SEA marks start of mediation with charity rally

The Summit Education Association marked the beginning of the mediation phase of contract negotiations with the  Board of Education last week with a rally to collect food and coats for local charitable organizations.

SEA President Dan Miller delivered over 150 new and gently-used coats to Bridges and 20 boxes filled with canned  and non-perishable food to S.H.I.P., both Summit-based organizations which help homeless and at-risk families and  individuals.

"The level of community support demonstrated by the custodians, secretaries and teachers of the Summit public  schools was outstanding, but not surprising," Miller said, adding how much everyone appreciated the support from  members of the public who also dropped off supplies.
